Does Your Car Smell? Your Vents May Need Cleaned

The flow of conditioned or heated air into your car is directed by ventilation systems. Despite the fact that many ventilation systems have a cabin filter, the dirt, pollen, pollutants, and contaminants that come with daily driving may be trapped within the ventilation system.

How Will I Know My Car Vents Need Cleaned?
  • A musty or odd odor will be coming from your car’s air vents.
  • You drive in areas where dust, pollution, or pollen levels are higher than average.

At Just Tires, our service technicians will perform the following actions when purchasing a Vent Cleaning Service:

  • Visually inspect the ventilation system (air-conditioning/heating) to determine if it is operating properly
  • Perform a service to help clean mold and mildew from the system

Note: There will be a slight spearmint scent after the service is completed. After a few hours, the odor will dissipate, leaving the system odorless.

Any time of year, all Just Tires locations offer air conditioning and car heater vent services for your vehicle.

Smog, allergens, and other pollutants are kept out of your car's cabin with a clean ventilation system.

When the air conditioner is turned on, the rapid cooling of the air can cause condensation, which can lead to fungi growing on the plastic and foam within the ventilation system. The fungus is then blown into the car through the a/c or heating system.

A musty odor coming from the heating/air conditioning ventilation system may suggest fungi/mildew buildup. You may require the service more frequently if you drive in areas with higher-than-average levels of dust, smoke, or pollen.
